Adept:us is recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer for a Portsmouth based client who are at the forefront of engineering innovation within their field.
The role supports the design and integration of marine electrical systems, collaborating with customers, shipyards, and internal teams. Key tasks include producing electrical schematics and harness designs, selecting components, contributing to HVDC powertrain integration, assisting with documentation and testing (FAT, HAT, SAT), maintaining technical records, and helping resolve installation and commissioning issues.
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. A master’s degree is desirable.

Relevant experience in automotive or high-voltage powertrain electrical installations is preferred for senior applicants, demonstrating understanding of sector-specific complexities. Junior candidates should have a strong technical foundation and a willingness to learn.

Proficiency with electrical CAD systems is essential; EPlan Electric P8 experience is preferred, but candidates with structured experience in other platforms (e.g., Siemens Capital, Zuken) will be considered.

Experience applying engineering standards (IEC, ISO, NFPA, etc.) to regulatory requirements is expected for those with relevant sector experience; junior candidates should demonstrate a basic understanding and an eagerness to develop this competency.
